ABOUT:

I am Sanna Ansaldo, an actor, director, and yoga teacher living and creating on Whadjuk Noongar land in Boorloo (Perth). I carry Swedish and Italian heritage, four languages, and a love for stories that travel across borders, cultures, and bodies.

My artistic practice is rooted in presence. On stage and on screen, I am drawn to moments of stillness as much as chaos, to stories that peel back illusions and invite us to meet each other more honestly. As a director, I explore the space where ritual meets play - where a game of musical chairs can become a papal conclave, or a quiet breath can become the heartbeat of a scene.

Yoga is the ground I return to. Teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin, and breathwork has shaped how I move in the rehearsal room: with awareness, with listening, and with trust in the body’s wisdom. The mat and the stage are not separate for me - both are spaces where we can practice surrender, discipline, and transformation.

I believe theatre, like yoga, is a practice of union: of self and other, of body and story, of laughter and grief. My work, whether performing, directing, or teaching, always circles back to this question:

how can we meet each other fully, here and now?
